More drama in Peru

It looks like the drama continues in Carancas. The Peruvian government is supposedly forbidding anyone near the crater and so the suspected mass still lies buried. Here is a recent article regarding a Russian meteorite team being involved now. What's next?

Mike Farmer has just posted a few pages on his site highlighting his recent trip to Peru to investigate the September fall. This fall is turning out to be a major event and the story surrounding Mike's trip is packed with excitement and his new pages have some very interesting pictures of the crater, surrounding area, and smoke trail.

INGEMMET (Instituto Geológico Minero y Metalúrgico) of Peru have just released their reporton the meteorite that created a ~14m crater in eastern Peru on September 15th. It is reported to be a chondrite with 15% kamacite. The full report is located here.
